Thanks for stopping by. You are looking at a 1967 Corvair 500 4 door sedan. It has traveled 107000 thousand miles and still running strong. Powered by an 110HP engine and powerglide she holds her own.
When I found this car it had been sitting under a blue tarp for 2 years untouched. The paint was peeling and discolored, flat tires, torn up interior and the engine compartment was a mess.
It took about 2 hours to get her to fire up but she did on all six too! Pumped up the tires, rode around the block a couple of times and decided it was time to make the 2 hour trip home. Filled up with premium and had a great ride home.
Since then I have done some work. Without knowing this when I bought the car, through closer inspection of the front cross member I noticed rust through along the back of it so it’s got a new/used cross member with new upper and lower ball joints, shocks (all around) inner and outer wheel bearings, seals and Michelin tires (all the way around). When I had the cross member out I dropped the gas tank and cleaned and flushed it as well as checking the steal brake lines up there which were found to be in excellent condition.
The engine and transmission are in excellent condition never failing to perform, as they should. The engine has new carburetors, electronic ignition, wires, plugs, and resealed, new harmonic balancer with seal, dual exhaust, oil pan and gasket. It runs smooth.
The transmission has been flushed with the pan being removed and screen filter cleaned, there was no harsh odor or discoloration of the fluid when drained.
The differential was drained and refilled, again – no harsh burnt smell and no whining at all.
The body as mentioned was multicolored from surface rust and had no rust through holes. I had it sanded down and repainted to it’s original color (or as close as Macco could get it) 2 years ago and it’s very presentable still. It is showing signs of bubbling in some areas but you have to look for then.
The interior is in fair condition. It had a front bench seat in it which was torn up pretty good as well as the back seat so I took a ride out to Corvair Ranch and found a 67 Monza 4 door with nice blue buckets and rear seat and installed them in the car which now looks great. The headliner is perfect as are the visors but the door panels are starting to frey at the bottom but are still pretty nice. It could stand a new carpet but is presentable as is.
In closing the car is a great driver and performer. I just took it on a 300 mile round trip and it hummed along with no problem. This is a car I would not hesitate driving anywhere!
Please Note: While I feel this car will drive anywhere I CAN NOT GUARRANTEE something will not go wrong. Understand that this is a 40-year-old car that has not been completely rebuilt but repaired and improved where needed
Please feel free to drop me a note (e-mail) and ask any questions you like and I will be happy to answer them as quickly as possible. Thank you and good luck.
